With the imminent return of the ‘Neutral Grey’ Air Jordan 1, the Jumpman looks set to dredge out more OG colourways from the class of 1985-6. This ‘Court Purple’ edition definitely channels the spirit of the unicorn ‘Metallic Purple’, and while it’s not a one-to-one remake, it could be the closest thing to a first-ever reissue.

The entire ‘Metallic’ pack is based around a simple formulation of white leather uppers and glossy accents on the Swoosh and ankle collar. Furthermore, the rubber outsoles are shaded to match. That execution is reprised here, albeit with some changes that’ll be unremarkable to most. Some slightly tumbled grainy leather replaces the smooth type, and ‘Court Purple’ is obviously a different tone than ‘Metallic Purple’. The ‘Nike Air’ font on the tongue label has always been bolder than the OG, and someone at JB has said, ‘Honey, I shrunk the Wings logo.’ Honestly, no big deal.

Because this new colourway is officially the women’s cut of the AJ1, sneakerheads may notice the very slightly different ankle cut and lining. That being said, it looks like this release uses a similar (if not the same) smooth lining as the recent ‘Varsity Purple’ Dunk High, which was also a women’s drop.

The Air Jordan 1 High OG ‘Court Purple’ is scheduled for a June 3 release, so there’s plenty of time to prep for this drop.
