Nomad by both name and nature, the influential has become an international sole staple ever since its explosive entry into the sneakersphere back in 2015. Right now in 2020, Foot Locker Australia have scoured the globe for exclusive drops, and these latest NMDs are just that! This ‘Crossroads’ pack references the world’s busiest intersection: the Shibuya Scramble Crossing in Japan.
Starting at the midsoles, the BOOST material is boldly covered in zebra crossing stripes. Stare long enough and you’ll be hypnotised… but adi break things up with the NMD’s distinct heel and forefoot ‘blocks’, rendered here in stark solid colours. The ‘katakana’ characters printed on the forefoot block, lateral eyestay, and heel pull tabs make the Far East connection clear.
Like the ever-changing nature of Japan’s urban landscape, the NMD’s future forward design continues to evolve at a rapid pace. This iteration reprises the bootie-style fit that made the NMD so comfortable upon introduction, but the hardware has been upgraded, now featuring minimalistic welded components for a cleaner look.
