The A-COLD-WALL* x Converse All Star Lugged Is Tough in Black
Having been revealed as part of SS20 presentation, and debuting earlier this month, Samuel Ross’ collection is set to expand with a triple black, super tough take on the Lugged.
The hardy sneaker takes its inspo from both natural environments and brutalist architecture, and encases the timeless Chuck Taylor in a rugged outer shell.
Ross’ minimalist yet tailored aesthetic comes to the fore here, with sturdy nylon and rubber overlays providing a sleek silhouette, while wraparound laces and eyelets add detail to the blacked-out release.
It’s a design that has deep connections for Ross, having elaborated on the collection’s origin story earlier this year. ‘One of my earliest memories of Converse is owning a pair of navy All Stars at age 14,’ Ross reflected. ‘I was travelling to the Caribbean a lot and took those shoes on numerous hikes and across mountain trails. So, the experience of my childhood affected this idea of changing the All Star into something that is more hard-wearing.
