Swap Basketballs for Boulders with This New Nike Air Force 1Release: 24 November 2020
The Nike Air Force 1 design has seen near-innumerable permutations over the course of its 35-plus-year history, and it’s clear Beaverton are still finding new variants to update the Uptown. This latest colourway helps the street sneaker escape its urban upbringing, and reconnects it with the great outdoors.
A midfoot buckle closure is the most obvious cosmetic change here, with plenty of utilitarian aesthetic on show, while albeit being somewhat ornamental due to its fixed position. Other features are more functional however, including the crosshatched perforation patterns across the toe box and mid section, alternating with textured panels that appear to be abrasion resistant. A metal hex top eyelet, reflective weave laces, and compass motif on the lateral mudguard all evoke yearnings of wilderness wanderlust. However, the light colourway and pastel tones suggest this AF-1 may be better suited for the urban explorer whose idea of adventure is venturing beyond their usual postcodes.
Either way, it’s a pretty nice colourway in mostly white, with some coloured underlays, plus some light green midsole stitching, a baby blue heel strip, and black contrast heel tab and Swoosh. This Air Force 1 is out now from Foot Locker as part of their ‘Fresh Perspective’ pack.
