SVD and ASICS Add Recycled Elements to the GEL-Lyte III
The has maintained a fairly low profile for most of the year, with ultra-hype colourways in short supply. However, the past few months has seen an uptick, with ‘Otoro’, the , and rainbow . Over the weekend, another collaboration was announced, with retailer Sivasdescalzo reworking the GEL-Lyte III with sustainability and craftsmanship in mind.
This will be the duo’s debut collaboration, and they’ve chosen to revamp the usual aesthetic of the legendary silhouette. Using the slogan ‘Rewind the planet, Rewind waste’, they’ve rethought the design and manufacturing process to innovate and add environmentally-friendly materials to highlight the key points of the shoe.
With a colourway that pays homage to Planet Earth, unique textures have been added to the upper, with the stand-out being the organic cotton used on the toe box, lateral and medial. Along the Tiger Stripe, black eco-leather has been added, while the insoles have been made with recycled plastic bottles, and the laces created with jute fibre. SVD make their mark on the heel and lateral.
