Run It Back! Stone Island and New Balance Tokyo Design Studio Are Dropping More FuelCell RC Elite V2 ColourwaysRelease: 5 July 2022
New Balance have kept heads on a swivel from the first day of this young decade, and one of their biggest power plays was linking with the Italian techwear masterminds at Stone Island in 2021. A partnership channelled through NB's prestigious Tokyo Design Studio (TDS for short), the link-up produced a special FuelCell RC Elite V2 that was one of 2021's best New Balance releases. Now, SI and NB TDS have reunited for more high-speed heat, with two fresh colourways of the RC Elite V2 set to drop in July.
Where the first pair was largely monochromatic save for the branded hits on its forefoot, this dynamic duo is doused in dashing colours. One pair blends burgundy with ultra-bright neon green, while the other opts for hot red and New Balance's classic grey. Both feature super-sized Stone Island and New Balance hits on the toebox, and feature ripped overlays similar to the ones on the ever-popular 2002R 'Protection Pack' lineup.
Though both of these joints are undeniably stylish, they're high-end performance runners at the end of the day – and no tech is sacrificed in the pursuit of looks. A feather-light 3D knit upper provides flexibility and breathability, while down below the FuelCell midsole houses a full-length carbon fibre plate for a combo of cushioning, support and snappiness that was designed to meet the needs of elite distance runners.
The Stone Island x New Balance Tokyo Design Studio FuelCell RC Elite V2 will see a staggered rollout, touching down at Stone Island stores on June 30 before hitting the Stone Island webstore on July 5. After that, it'll arrive at all of New Balance's channels and their global network of retailers on July 8. The MSRP is set at $220.
