There’s a Sporty & Rich x adidas SL 72 on the Way

Emily Oberg’s Sporty & Rich label have become one of adidas’ most prolific collaborators. Last year, Oberg continued to bolster the Samba hype train with an array of crisp colourways that blended the Sporty & Rich minimalistic aesthetic with the classic adidas silhouettes, and the hype was real, with pairs selling through with the quickness and certain colourways becoming ultra sought-after. The duo have now crafted a SL 72 in a colourway that nods to Oberg's half Swedish roots.

As the name suggests, the SL 72 model debuted to the world in 1972 and is known to freak period-correct nylon, suede and leather construction. While the SL 72 has come and gone from sneaker store shelves, the decades-old model has never really been a heavy hitter for Team Trefoil. However, it’s a reliable everyday option that has experienced a recent popularity boost thanks to a Wales Bonner collaboration and various crisp GR colourways. For the S&R version, Oberg has dressed the uppers in a classic blue/yellow mix. Sporty & Rich branding can be seen on the lateral side, rounding out the collaboration.

Sporty & Rich debuted their next adidas collaboration at an intimate dinner during Paris Fashion Week. An exact release date hasn’t been set, but Team Trefoil say you can expect pairs to land in November.
