The ultimate grail for many sneaker fiends and cinephiles alike has been sold! Last week Shoezeum hosted an auction for the left shoe of an OG Nike MAG, straight from the set of Back to the Future II.
Bids started slower than expected for this unit compared to the 2016 auction, where pairs fetched six-figure digits. A cracked midsole, yellow outsole and crumbled heel illustrate the age of the sneaker, but this didn’t deter bidders from bidding on the uber-rare collectible.
Two-hundred-and-twenty bids and $92,100 later, the 1989 sneaker now belongs to a new owner! Congrats to both parties of course, but especially the lucky winner, who now owns a piece of sneaker and cinema history.
