Sneep Crew Keep the Flame of Fine Footwear Alive
Sneep Crew are a relatively young entity who have been manufacturing sneakers in their native origin of Spain since 2013. Their product assortment reveals a healthy dose of reverence for running designs of a bygone era, which they’ve referenced and refreshed using traditional craftsmanship to create modern silhouettes. A model that has grown a cult following among trainerspotters for its nuanced details and quality build is the RW ECO, which is seen above in three editions: ‘Dorsal 261’, ‘Dorsal 17’ and ‘Jungle Hunter 2’.
The RW ECO is built using fine suede and perforated panels, with plenty of colourful layers and nods to classic runner designs. The uppers are joined to a sleek midsole and outsole unit provided by Italian neighbours Vibram. For a small company, Sneep Crew certainly have a large range of colourways at their disposal.
The ‘Dorsal’ editions are each inspired by a pivotal moment in athletics – the 261 and 17 numbers each refer to the numbers pinned by underrepresented minorities in their respective events. A bit of Googling will reveal all…
It’s not just historical events that inform Sneep Crew’s colourways, there is plenty of pop cultural exploration too. The ‘Jungle Hunter 2’ pays homage to a menacing sci-fi villain of the 1980s. Plus, the ‘heat map’ graphic on the packaging should make the reference pretty obvious.
