Making sneakers from surplus panels and scrap materials is not a new concept for New Balance (the practice dates as far back as the 576 ‘Leftovers Pack’ from 2006), but they’re keeping the concept alive with their latest 770, which is exclusive to Sneakersnstuff. Because the 770 is part of NB’s premier Made In England line, this new colourway has access to plenty of spare parts from other quality retro runners like the 1500. Which is exactly where the parts for this 770 have come from.

Deriving panels from the M1500PRA, M1500PRT and M1500NBG, this 770 rearranges these pre-cut scraps into logical placements that juxtapose different graphic patterns next to one another. There is a mixture of tiger camo, geometric triangles, and overbranded New Balance typefaces. However, this is about as far as recognisable similarities go. The almost-patchwork style of the panels, which, by the way, are not cut to the same shape as the 770’s usual lines, make for quite an intriguing visual, especially on the black mesh base. This subversive theme is confirmed by the ‘run-off’ New Balance text on the tongue label.

This New Balance 770 releases exclusively on SNS on April 14. Raffle entries are open now via the SNS App.
