Sneakerheads Targeted in Latest adidas Cyber Phishing Scam

Sneaker Freaker ScamSneaker Freaker Scam

Sneakerheads worldwide have fallen victim to a cyber phishing scam, circulating a phony giveaway for adidas’ 69th anniversary.

According to IT security site welivesecurity, malicious links were sent to users via Whatsapp, claiming that 2,500 pairs of were up for grabs. The link prompted users to enter their geolocation and IP address, before a four-question survey ‘qualified’ the user for a free pair of sneakers.

After completing the initial survey, the real ‘fun’ begins. Users are encouraged to share the offer with friends on Whatsapp. A $1 fee is payable, and the user is granted a bogus subscription to organizejobs — a well-known scam since 2017 — for the princely sum of $50 USD.

You’ll then wait for your adidas until your feet shrink to a size you never ordered.

Ever fallen for a cyber scam? I see my parents once a week to physically intervene.

Be careful, people.
