Sip Up The Air Jordan 8 ‘Burgundy’Release: 4 December 2020
This upcoming Air Jordan 8 ‘Burgundy’ edition could have easily slotted into a Jordan Brand catalogue from 1993. It uncannily follows pretty much all of the OG colour-blocking conventions, and also uses materials that could pass muster.
Starting with a white leather base, this configuration sees restrained use of its namesake burgundy colour (which, by the way, isn’t referenced in its official White/Black/Neutral Grey/Hyper Blue name. Go figure.) on the arch accent and strap hardware. The criss-crossed straps are an idiosyncratic feature of this Tinker Hatfield design, which is shared on its outdoor equivalent: the Nike Air Raid. Beneath these straps are perforated leather inserts on the midfoot, while the ankle portion is light grey suede. Some additional contrast shows up on the black rear straps, ankle pull tab, and neoprene tongue, the latter of which also displays its distinct chenille material Jumpman logo. Underfoot, the sculpted midsole is grey foam, flipped with an all-white rubber outsole.
The Air Jordan 8 ‘Burgundy’ is due to release on December 4 in women’s sizing. It’s suggested to anyone whose feet struggle to fit the largest size available, loosen the laces, remove the insoles, trim excess toenail length, and wear the thinnest socks possible. Good luck – believe and achieve.
