Jordan Brand and Shoe Palace Honour California Firefighters With Special Flight Court Release
and have collaborated on a heartfelt project: a special edition of the Jordan sneaker, paying tribute to the courageous firefighters who combat California's devastating wildfires. As wildfires increasingly threaten communities across the state, this release serves as both a salute to first responders and a reminder of the real heroes off the court.
The sneaker features a clean, white suede upper, accented by vibrant red and blue details that nod to traditional firefighter uniforms. Metallic gold lace dubraes inscribed with ‘Flight Dept’ add a touch of distinction, while a custom hangtag commemorates the collaboration. Designed with inspiration from the Air Jordan 3, 4, and 5, the Flight Court combines classic elements with modern flair, offering both style and performance.
In terms of tech underfoot, responsive cushioning ensures comfort, while the durable rubber outsole provides reliable traction, whether on blacktop or sidewalk. Limited pairs will be available exclusively through Shoe Palace, with a portion of proceeds supporting local fire departments and wildfire relief efforts through the – the official charity of the Los Angeles Fireman's Relief Association.
The timing of this release is poignant, following one of California’s most destructive wildfire seasons in January 2025. Beginning in the first week of January and continuing until the very last days of the month, the Eaton and Palisades Fires devastated Los Angeles County, fuelled by extreme drought and powerful Santa Ana winds. The Eaton Fire burned over 14,000 acres and destroyed approximately 9418 structures. Simultaneously, the Palisades Fire consumed nearly 24,000 acres and destroyed close to 7000 structures. Combined, these fires led to the elimination of over 18,000 homes and other buildings, and the evacuation of more than 200,000 residents. Insured losses from these disasters are estimated to exceed $28 billion, making them among the costliest wildfires in United States history.
