'Chase the Drip' With Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Kelly Oubre Jr.'s Converse Pro Leathers
Rising stars Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Kelly Oubre Jr. know how to get down on the court, and they know how to stunt in the tunnel walk too as each has received an outsize amount of attention for their pre-game fits. Now, is spotlighting Gilgeous-Alexander and Oubre Jr.'s sartorial flair by giving each a special as part of a 'Chase the Drip' collection.
Gilgeous-Alexander's is the more understated of the two, with a white leather upper that features warped, -adjacent detailing on its oversized branded hits and eyestays plus quilted patterns. The collar lining, inside half of the tongue and insole complete the look with flowing floral prints, and a gold 'SGA' stamp on the lateral quarter lets you know just whose shoe it is.
You'd expect someone who calls himself 'Tsunami Papi' to create a pretty damn wild colab sneaker, and that's just what Oubre Jr. did on his high-cut Pro Leather. A nod to his love of thrifting (imagine seeing an NBA player digging through the Goodwill racks!) the shoe features four different fabrics on its upper, ranging from watercolour camo to light blue chambray. Suede detailing and a chopped star chevron logo are also present.
Both pairs are available now via the Converse web store, with Gilgeous-Alexander's low cut style priced at $100 and Oubre Jr.'s high-top iteration arriving at $110.
