New York City-based designer Sandy Liang and Vans have teamed up again for an extensive, fun-filled collection of footwear and apparel. Chock-a-block with 1990s nostalgia, the offerings include everything from bright colours to bold alternate materials, whimsical embellishments and playful patterns, making for a tribute to the times and places that shaped Liang's design ethos.

Six shoes in total appear in the collection: two takes on the Authentic, a Half Cab, two iterations of the Sk8-Hi and one go-around with the Style 73. One Authentic boasts a gingham pattern, colourful floral print and detachable pouches on the laces, while the other opts for smiling, hand-drawn creatures with embroidered details. Half Cabs are made of shaggy forest green fleece, and the Sk8-His supply either green canvas with a blue floral print or a standard black canvas base with white frills on the collar and a chunky midsole. Last but not least, the Style 73 is coated in a hodgepodge of accents that range from more hand-drawn characters and roses to 212 and 718 hits on the heel for nods to some of the area codes used in NYC's five boroughs. The shoes are also accompanied by a full set of apparel.

Expect the Sandy Liang x Vans collection to hit the Vans webstore and Sandy Liang's online shop come January 28.
