Revealed! New Balance’s Black History Month CollectionRelease: 15 February 2021
Black History Month is upon us! Spanning from February 1 to March 1, the annual event recognises the contribution and achievements of those with African or Caribbean heritage. During this time, sneaker brands are known to join in on the occasion, delivering some heater releases in the process. New Balance are ready this year, and have just unveiled a collection of creps and apparel dubbed ‘My Story Matters’.
The NB990v5 has been blessed in a tasty suede and mesh mix, with ‘Tan’ dominating the iteration, and a deep tone of ‘Regal Purple’ wrapping around the heel. The touch of luxury comes in the form of burgundy accents, plus complementary gold touches on the eyestays and side branding. A dark gum midsole completes the vibe.
The NB574 is arguably the most luxurious of the two models, and boasts a black base, setting a darker tone, while purple covers the whole toe box. Burgundy trimming sits nicely next to the gold woven rope that has been cascaded around the rear.
The New Balance ‘My Story Matters’ collection for 2021 Black History Month – which includes the NB990v5, NB574 and apparel – will hit select stockists on February 15.
