The Return of the Pro B: Nike Revisits Its Pre-SB Roots

Before there was the , it was just the . In the late 1990s, began tinkering with the Dunk, exploring alterations and experimenting with different iterations of the classic model. These offshoots were largely released as regional exclusives because Nike had little faith that these deviations would be welcomed. One modified model, the Pro B, featured a fat padded tongue. The Pro B was adopted by the skateboarding community for its improved cushioning elements. A few years later, in 2002, was born and would go on to grow into the storied line and heritage-rich side of Nike that it is today. In all of this, the Pro B model is often forgotten; but in 2025, Nike is returning it to the forefront.
Earlier this year, the Nike SB Dunk Low Pro B ‘Parachute Beige’ was released, and images just surfaced of another colourway. This second colourway has been dubbed ‘Cinnamon’ for its rich brown hue. The monotone sneaker is dressed in rich suede and comes with fatter flat laces than typically seen on an SB Dunk. It sits atop a translucent gum outsole. On the surface level, the easiest explanation of the difference between the SB Dunk and the Pro B Dunk is the Pro B does not bear the traditional Nike SB tongue tag. This is because the Pro B predates Nike SB’s founding. Getting into the nitty gritty, the Pro B’s sole groves are wider than on the SB, the toe panelling is taller, and the eye stay panel is stitched on top of the toe panel instead of under on the SB. With the 2025 Pro B, Nike nods to the roots of one of its most successful brand units.
Currently, the only images of the Nike SB Dunk Low Pro B ‘Cinnamon’ available are sample pairs but similar images appeared before the ‘Parachute Beige’ release in January. No details have been announced, but rumours point to a drop at the end of the year. Keep it locked here for all the important updates.
