Official images and a release date have emerged for the  Nike SB  Dunk Low ‘What The P-Rod’, a design that’s sure to polarise the sneaker community. Anticipation has been building on this eclectic release for a couple of months now, with the first look, an on-foot, and a closer look all hitting news feeds this year.

Paul Rodriguez, long-time Nike SB team rider and skateboarding legend, has unveiled dozens of signature skate shoes over the years, and many of them are referenced here for this wild ‘What The P-Rod’ colourway. Borrowing elements from Rodriguez’s sneaker history with Nike SB, the design is one of the craziest mashups in recent memory.

Among the multiple callouts, there’s the stripes with floral notes – borrowed from the ‘Mexican Blanket’ colourway – and there’s a gold dubrae from last year’s collaborative  boxing-themed Dunk High. As a tribute to the ‘P-Rods’ of the past, there are hints of elephant print, while Stash’s P-Rod 1 is referenced on the left ankle. For the purists, the quilted lining is also a cool throwback touch. This sure is a detailed release, and is not for the faint hearted.

Pairs of the Nike SB Dunk Low ‘What The P-Rod’ are scheduled to release on May 24 via SNKRS.
