Release Date: Concepts x New Balance 57/40 ‘Headin’ Home’
Continuing to celebrate their 25th anniversary this year, world renowned boutique have again teamed up with fellow Bostonians , this time to finesse a special edition collaboration which nods to a forgotten baseball film: Babe Ruth’s 1920 biopic Headin’ Home.
A fictional account of Ruth’s life, the silent film was dubbed ‘a delightful photoplay of youth and happiness’.
‘The film was a flop. But its place in the historic rivalry between cities remains,’ explains Concepts. ‘The Yankees, of course, went on to win…a lot. Boston, meanwhile, suffered the ‘Curse of the Bambino’ from 1918-2004.’
Dressed in an orange scheme referencing the film’s posters, the sneaker comes through with ‘N’ logos done in a waxy paper, similar to that seen on baseball card packs. As with most Concepts drops, pairs will come housed in a custom box – in this case, complete with theatrical iconography and a matching lanyard. Down below, things are rounded out with an off-white midsole atop a black rubber outsole.
Arriving alongside special apparel including hoodies, sweatpants, t-shirts and hats, the Concepts x New Balance 57/40 ‘Headin’ Home’ will release on August 27 via Concepts.
