Raheem Sterling is one of the biggest stars in the world of soccer, an attacker and midfielder who mans the pitch for Manchester City (though he might be leaving to sign with Arsenal) and the English national team. Before Sterling was a household name among footy fanatics though, he was a young Londoner who'd moved with his family from Jamaica and grew up playing soccer with his friends in the shadows of Wembly Stadium – the same pitch he now dominates. To honour his growth, status and story, he's teamed with New Balance to drop a collection dubbed 'Shadow of My Dreams.'
Sterling's first collection with New Balance since officially joining the brand in 2021, 'Shadow of My Dreams' consists of a 327, a Furon V6+ boot and a capsule of special apparel. The 327 combines dark grey and black with a small hit of red on its tongue, while the Furon V6+ offers up a more sporty contrast of jet black and red. 'You are the creator of your own success' is printed on both pairs' insoles as well.
'For my debut New Balance collection, I really wanted to celebrate where my football journey began and demonstrate that even being born into the most difficult of circumstances cannot stop your rise to achieving the biggest of dreams,' said Sterling. 'As a child, I visualised representing England on the pitch of Wembley, one of world sport’s most iconic stadiums, and look at me today. Brent has risen from the shadows. I never stopped believing in myself. I want young people to find pride in their beginnings and reach for the stars too.'
The Raheem Sterling x New Balace 327 'Shadow of My Dreams' is priced at $120 and is currently sold out on the New Balance webstore, but the Furon V6+ is available now for $225. The apparel will arrive on the site in the coming days, and ranges from $40 to $80.
