Following the recent appointment of Kerby Jean-Raymond to Reebok’s VP of Creative Direction, the concurrent Pyer Moss head is still keeping busy with his ongoing Experiment series. The Reebok Experiment 4 Fury Trail has been a focus of late, as it continues its radical rebuild of the mid-90s classic: the Instapump Fury.

As the full name suggests, this experimental remake of the Fury features plenty of trail and hiking upgrades de rigueur with the GORPcore look that’s influenced the past few fashion seasons. The Fury’s distinct two-part sole is beefed up with massive cleated rubber tread to safely navigate the streets, while the layered mesh upper eschews the usual Pump mechanism. Instead, an elasticated lace system is fastened via the spring-loaded toggle, which is all hidden neatly behind a streamlined midfoot shroud. Experimental, indeed. Other departures from the norm include extra large pull tabs (which are always a good thing), a double-layered ankle cradle, lining that’s ensconced in velvet, and a low-slung leather mudguard.

This latest ‘Fresco’ colourway in summery shades of white, blue and yellow is perfect for taking urban hikes down to outdoor dining areas. Just keep that mesh away from wayward splashes of wine or marinara sauce. They release on October 18 at selected Reebok retailers.
