The PUMA MB.01 Lo Visits a ‘UFO’
signature shoe with , the , has had its ankles lopped off to form a low-cut version. This practice has become a prominent feature of contemporary basketball shoes, which were much higher in previous decades. The lower ankle height modification to the model also brings with it a new colourway, nicknamed the ‘UFO’.
The extraterrestrial theme fits Ball’s ‘Not From Here’ MO, which he explains as ‘kind of like you’re an alien. You’re not from here, you’re something nobody’s ever seen before. You’re one of one. Something like that. It’s real different.’ This is emphasised on the new shoe by the namesake UFO motif found on the tongue, and the motto printed on the forefoot of each shoe.
Other nods to the rising NBA star include his ‘1 With Wings’ tattoo printed on the insoles against a galaxy backdrop. This detail is also stitched across the tongue loop. The remainder of the colourway is quite easy on the eyes compared to previous releases; a simple grey upper combo is met with bright aqua lining and ice outsoles. On foot, Nitro Foam still delivers explosive cushioning.
The MB.01 Lo ‘UFO’ will release on June 16 directly from PUMA.
