PUMA x Balenciaga Race with the Speedcat

The cat is out of the bag, and just announced a collaborative project on the , which has been making a lot of noise in the fashion set for the past few years. Originally released in 1999 for Formula One drivers, the uber-lightweight sneaker was designed to shave precious milliseconds off lap times. It has since developed a streetwear following and contributed greatly to PUMA’s sales growth of 9.8 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2024.
With this move, PUMA are claiming a spot in the high fashion lane, with the Balenciaga Speedcat arriving in a bold red suede upper accented by white PUMA logos on the lateral side and the toebox. The real kicker on the design is a worn-out, distressed look that has half the iconic Formstrip ripped off (who approved this?). It is tied together with luxurious gold foil Balenciaga and PUMA branding on the lateral side and the tongue.
The PUMA Speedcats will be included in Balenciaga’s Winter 25 collection at the end of this year, but no further details have been announced. Keep it locked for all the important updates as the time draws closer.
