Please Add More ‘Patina’ to this Air Jordan 1 HighRelease: 13 March 2021
If you don’t have the heart to beat your sneaker heat, consider the Air Jordan 1 High ‘Patina’. This release really gets the party started. While distressing shoes to give them a worn-in look is currently all the rage on the Internet, here Jordan Brand have decided to do it straight outta the factory.
The palette these AJ1s use is very on trend right now. Black and brown – really more of a bronze – definitely evokes the ‘Travis Scott effect’ and other earthy editions like the ‘Dark Mocha’ and ‘Rookie of the Year’. The weathered finish on this bronze, which covers the toe bumper, eyestays and Swoosh, is where the ‘Patina’ nickname is derived from. That sheen to the front portion even makes it look like the shoes have been buffed, much like an old piece of silverware. Elsewhere, light grey – very ‘Shadow’-esque (but is apparently actually ‘Fresh Mint’) – nubuck adds even more OG flavour. Staying on period details, nylon is the correct material for the tongue, and it’s also objectively more comfortable. Underfoot, it’s simply a white rubber midsole with black outsole, because if it ain’t broke…,
The Air Jordan 1 High ‘Patina’ is scheduled to release on March 13 at selected retailers.
