Pharrell Gives the adidas Humanrace Sichona a 'Shock Yellow' Jolt

Pharrell Williams continues releasing new colourways of his adidas Humanrace Sichona collaboration, an ergonomic looking design that began doing the rounds last year. Aside from the black pair releasing concurrently with this ‘Shock Yellow’ edition, every colour has aimed for high visibility. And this is the brightest of the lot so far.

The Sichona is designed to be extremely form fitting, which is achieved by making the uppers entirely from stretchy Primeknit that engulfs the entire foot and ankle with its mid-cut height. Because the tension of the weave can be adjusted, some areas are made looser to increase breathability, such as the instep. While others are woven tighter for more durability, namely the toe box. Thirdly, the ankle collar is ribbed like a pair of socks to aid with on/off. Despite the dynamic fit, there is still a traditional lacing system threaded through the midfoot.

Underfoot is a bulbous single-piece foam sole with sculpted curves reminiscent of adi’s 1990s Feet You Wear designs, but this version is purely for casual use. As such, it allows for quirkier features like ‘Humanrace’ text moulded directly into the outsole as decorative tread. Of course, these are all details to be observed past the very bright ‘Shock Yellow’ colourway.
