Palace Gas Up the Reebok Classic Leather PumpRelease: 23 October 2020
British skate label Palace have been very busy on the collaborative front lately. Following their recent Salomon trail mission and an excellent collection with cycling brand Rapha (look it up!), they’ve just announced their next colab with long-time compatriots Reebok. This upcoming release taps into some more roadman sensibilities and features an inconspicuous modification of a Vector favourite: the Classic Leather Pump.
Yes, they’ve put a Pump mechanism onto the side of the Classic Leather. The retrofitted components in turn changes the mid panel, with the side stripe stopping short of the Pump inflate and deflate buttons, which are branded respectively with Palace’s ‘Tri-Ferg’ and Reebok’s Union Jack logos. These additions add a pop of excitement in an otherwise clean combo of white/navy and black/white across two colourways. And, given its Classic Leather name, expect soft leather uppers and spongy nylon tongues, the latter also bearing a co-branded Reebok and Palace label.
This is what Palace had to say on the matter of the unlikely pairing of Pump technology and conventional retro runners:
'For years they told us it was impossible. But we didn't listen. Because at Palace, we had a vision: the Reebok Classic, with a Pump on it.'
The Palace x Reebok Classic Leather Pump releases via Palace on October 23, alongside matching co-branded apparel. Get your bots ready.
