Jersey City locals Packer Shoes have crossed the Hudson to bring us a tribute to everybody's favourite show about nothing. Collaborating with ASICS, the crew at Packer have sought to shed some light on the age-old question 'just how cold is scary cold?', bringing us a GEL-Lyte V blessed with the protection of Gore-Tex.
Inspired by George Costanza's extra-puffy wardrobe choice in the Seinfeld episode 'The Dinner Party', the upcoming colab has been made up in a combination of black leather and rusty tan suede. To keep your feet toasty when the thermometer plummets, the shoe has been treated with the waterproof protection of a Gore-Tex lining and fitted with cold-weather updates, including boot-inspired metal d-ring lace rivets and a layer of ballistic mesh behind the signature Tiger Stripes.
In addition to the sneakers, Packer have also produced a collection of two Gore-Tex equipped New Era fitted caps. One design features the Gore-Tex logo embroidered in gold, while the other is a waterproof rendition of the classic New York Yankees cap, made for 'assistants to the travelling secretary' everywhere.
The Packer Shoes x ASICS GEL-Lyte V 'Scary Cold' will be released at 12pm EST on January 28 exclusively through Packer Shoes, both in-store and online. Packer will also be hosting an early drop breakfast event at the legendary Tom's Restaurant on the morning of January 27. Just 50 pairs will be available and will come packaged inside a waterproof ULTRAOLIVE dustbag. Every buyer will also be treated to a complimentary breakfast.
