Overkill Graff Up the ZX 8500 for the adidas A-ZX Series
German boutique and foremost ZX obsessives have joined the growing A-ZX Series, filling the ‘O’ entry with a unique take on the ZX 8500. It’s a hybrid between the and , two models that have prominently featured in this ongoing thematic and collaborative collection that corresponds to each letter of the alphabet.
There’s a lot going on here, but it actually results in a balanced representation of the things that matter most to Overkill: Berlin, graffiti and ZX. The crew’s love for adi’s retro technical running line is expressed with this aforementioned hybrid model, with which they’ve shown respect to past editions by sticking to OG materials such as microfibre and mesh. Solidly coloured neon panels correspond to the bright spray paint favoured by Berlin’s bombers, and this graffiti theme carries over to the woven lace pattern, representing the numerous wire fences scaled to access prime urban canvases.
Reflective accents further shine a light on Berlin’s notorious Chrome Bomber, whose silver-toned style remains an influence on local spray styles. Endless customisation comes via extra sets of laces, dubraes, and even a pair of shoe covers to prevent any overspray landing where it shouldn’t! Overkill leave their mark with stitched detailing across the upper, and even place their logo on the Torsion bar underfoot.
The Overkill x adidas ZX 8500 will release on April 9 at the stroke of midnight from Overkill. Merch and artwork from local graffiti crew 1UP will also drop while stock lasts.
