On and Roger Federer Reveal The Roger Centre Court Sneaker

Swiss performance running experts On expand their growing with help from brand ambassador , unveiling The Roger Centre Court 0-Series.

The tennis-inspired sneaker is On’s first product project alongside the tennis legend, reimagining the classic tennis sneaker with latest comfort technology. Looking to do away with the bulky rubber soles traditionally used in tennis footwear, Federer’s approach to the design was simple.

‘The minimalist design and easy comfort of On’s shoes had me hooked years ago,’ he says.

‘I wanted to infuse the tennis sneaker with the same lightness, comfort and agility for every day.’

The Roger sneaker makes use of On’s award-winning CloudTec sole, elevating the usual performance traits with a hidden secret - the Speedboard - for agile movement. Additionally, an ultra-soft sock-like construction provides a cushy fit and plenty of breathability.

To mark its debut, the 0-Series of The Roger Centre Court will be individually numbered, with just 1000 pairs to be released. It features special black stitching and a black Speedboard, and even comes with a personal message from Fed!

‘I love working with the On team, using my knowledge of performance footwear and personal interest in fashion to contribute to product development. I’m proud to be a part of the creation of The Roger, which is the most comfortable tennis-inspired sneaker you will ever wear,’ says Federer.

Always embracing their Swiss roots, On’s design team and Federer looked to splendour of The Alps to drive The Roger’s eco-friendly manufacturing process. Each pair is crafted from vegan leather designed for lightness to reduce material consumption. The material has approximately 30 per cent of the footprint of animal leather.

‘We love to explore and aspire to protect the incredible natural beauty that surrounds us, hence this new generation of tennis-inspired sneakers has been created with in mind,’ explains On co-founder David Allemann.

The Roger Centre Court was unveiled by Roger Federer to coincide with the first time he won Wimbledon 17 years ago. The shoe also kicks off Roger Live: a virtual event starting at 10AM CEST on theroger.com. Roger Live consists of three sets and two tiebreakers where Federer will be hanging out with some of his friends to talk tennis, life, everything in between. Fans all over the world have the opportunity to ask questions and even play against the GOAT himself. The broadcast will air live through an exclusive YouTube livestream.
