Official Pics: The Nike Kobe 6 Protro ‘All-Star’Release: TBC
Rumours began circulating last month about a potential return of the Nike Kobe 6 Protro ‘All-Star’, and now we have official images, plus a release timeframe for the highly-anticipated model. Hot on the heels of the Kobe 6 Protro ‘Grinch’ retro, which returned 10 years after its auspicious 2010 debut, this ‘All-Star’ rendition adopts a similar aesthetic to the colourway Kobe wore during the 2011 All-Star game.
Boasting an ominous black and red gradient over the top of the signature scaly uppers, the red references the Western Conference All-Star team that Bryant appeared for 18 times during his 20-year tenure with the LA Lakers. The stark white printed Swoosh adds contrast, while the look is anchored by black on the heel counters, lining, tongue, and midsole. Zoom Air is hidden inside the white heel pod, and the forefoot, before the icy outsole provides a little extra grip on the hardwood. Patterned shoelaces complete the vibe.
Last year’s tragic loss of Kobe Bryant rocked the sporting world to its core, prompting heartfelt tributes from both current and former NBA players. In one attempt to process their grief, many of the modern players dusted off their favourite Kobe signature silhouettes to wear on court. And if Nike keep bringing back these meaningful retros, that trend looks set to continue well into 2021.
Pairs of the Nike Kobe 6 Protro ‘All-Star’ retro are expected to land next month. We’ll keep you updated if a specific date is given.
