UPDATE: Just when we thought stores had sold out of this performance-packed NikeLAB creation in record time, the crew at Taiwan's Invincible have swooped in with the good word that their pairs will be going on sale June 10. The release looks to be in store only, so make sure you get in quick to take score your pair.
Nike are celebrating their efforts to break a two-hour marathon with a new runner – the Zoom Fly SP. The Swoosh tapped the tech maestros at NikeLAB to create the shoe, which serves as a more durable counterpart to the strictly performance-focussed VaporFly models. That said, everything needed to whip around a race track is still in play. A 10mm heel-to-toe offset assists propulsion, while a full-length, carbon-infused nylon plate has been slotted into the sole for increased stiffness.
Most striking aspect of the design is the replacement of knitted upper with a translucent stretch-woven upper. Reinforced with simple stitching, the material is adorned with motifs that commemorate the Breaking2 effort – replete with finish line checkers, a digital clock and a race track.
