Nike Introduce Giannis Antetokounmpo's Zoom Freak 1
Hot on the heels of being named the NBA MVP for the 2018/19 season, first signature shoe has finally received an official reveal from the Swoosh.
Billed as 'an exercise in solving for Antetokounmpo's rangy movement,' the aptly named is built specifically for the Greek Freak's game and features the likes of a unique multidirectional traction pattern along with dual-stacked heel Zoom units. An internal containment system is also employed to help keep the foot in place while lateral support is provided by a rubber clip that extends up from the outsole and over the midsole.
As far as aesthetics go, the oversized Swoosh that sweeps up from the midsole is clearly the focal point while the kicks also offer Giannis and Nike the first chance to showcase his new brand identity through a series of logos. Highlights include his primary 'GA' logo and even a Greek flag-inspired take on his jersey number.
Says Antetokounmpo of getting his own signature sneaker: 'To be honest with you, I never dreamed of having a signature shoe. Growing up, the goal was making the NBA; playing hard and helping your team win. This is a bonus.'
