Nike Unveil Giannis Antetokounmpo's Zoom Freak 3
Two-time MVP continues to fuel his Milwaukee Bucks during this NBA post-season, the Greek Freak well on his way to a first championship ring. He’s also sparking plenty of chatter below the knees, today unveiling the third iteration of his coveted signature series: the Nike Zoom Freak 3.
Built to withstand Giannis’ dynamic physicality on his way to the rim, the Zoom Freak 3 is loaded with future-forward hoops technology.
‘One of the hallmarks of his athleticism is transferring energy quickly from leg to leg to manoeuvre his body through gaps,’ says Ross Klein, Sr. Creative Director for Men’s Performance Footwear at Nike. ‘Giannis works his foot like a gas and brake. He also works all different angles of his foot as he’s driving to the basket, so we wanted to contour the design to fit the way he transitions from step to step.’
Again reinforced with an on-trend midfoot strap (recent arrivals from and have also utilised the retro look), the low-cut aesthetic again extends the vernacular of Giannis’ first two signature shoes.
Engineered with synthetic uppers, the backward Swoosh wrapped around the heel emphasises a popular trend in the industry, while down below, two Zoom Air units under the ball of the foot help distribute the meteoric impact of Giannis’ explosive plays in the paint.
The black and purple ‘Project 34’ colourway, and the orange Freak colourway of the Zoom Freak 3 will release globally on July 1, and in August for North America.
