Look Out! The Nike Tuned ‘Tide’ is Rising Again

The Nike Tuned has a special place in the hearts of many sneakerheads Down Under. Originally hitting Aussie shores back in 1998, the Tuned became the unofficial ‘bad boy’ of the Air Max family, Sean McDowell’s idyllic, beachside silhouette infamously positioned as a symbol of subterranean honour.

Foot Locker have continued to load shelves with plenty of pupil-dilating Aussie-exclusives since the TN’s inception, with colourways like the ‘Lava’ retro causing molten-hot hype among sneakerheads.

Now, the Tuned ‘Tide’ is rising once again! First washing up in 2014, the ‘Tide’ is a legend of the Tuned catalogue. Still one of the freshest colourways in Air Max existence, fans have been patiently waiting for a retro for nearly a decade, the summer-ready colourway arriving right in time for spring.

In terms of construction, the Tuned ‘Tide’ remains staunchly true to the original. Crisp white TPU 'stripes' and classic mesh uppers fade from blue to white – a perfect 'spray paint fade' in Aussie terminology. The midfoot shank – modelled on a whale tail – appears in red, and extends to the TN badges and iconic seven Air bubbles down below.

The Nike Tuned ‘Tide’ is set to release exclusively at Foot Locker stores on August 24! An online release will follow on August 25 at 10am AEST.
