The Nike Shox R4 ‘USA’ Goes Full Star-Spangled
With July slowly but surely rearing its head, are gearing up for their annual Independence Day celebrations: this time turning their attention to the . True to form, the release sees the Beaverton bosses return to arguably one their strongest colourways – red, white and blue – from 2020.
Sticking with the flag-ready theme all the way through, the cult model comes with a navy synthetic build that wraps the sides, giving the silhouette a structured, almost metallic edge. While the upper sticks close to the OG formula, underneath, the Shox R4's usual black outsole is reimagined with red grip accents along with matching pillars appearing at the heel.
Though not officially linked to Vince Carter, this release inevitably recalls the basketball icon’s performance with Team USA at the 2000 Olympics. Just a month after signing with the Swoosh and becoming the leading figure of Shox b-ball, the former pro cemented his legacy with the now legendary 'Dunk of Death' – a moment made in the Shox BB4, the hardwood counterpart to the R4.
