Back in Black (and Red): The Nike SB P-Rod 1 ‘Bred’ Rolls Again

legendary line with is back on deck to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the P-Rod 1. After launching its OG colourway last month, it looks like the team at are revisiting a second ‘Bred’-style colourway to keep the celebrations rolling.

This version stays committed to the original. The upper features a mix of premium suede panels, including black suede on the mudguard, vamp, and eyestays, while a striking, red, perforated-suede Swoosh provides contrast and breathability. Medium grey suede takes over the toe box and midfoot, and the heel overlay brings the heat with a tonal monogram print of Rodriguez’s initials.

True to its roots, the shoe retains the OG’s rounded toe box, low‑profile cupsole, and Zoom Air cushioning for that essential skate flick and boardfeel. Beneath the surface, an upgraded structure hides a carbon midfoot plate paired with a semi‑translucent outsole, delivering refined impact protection while supporting P‑Rod’s signature tactile performance.

All of that performance pedigree isn’t by accident – it’s the result of two decades of dialled-in design, with roots that run deep. When the P-Rod 1 first dropped in 2005, it marked a major milestone – not just for Paul Rodriguez, but for Nike SB as a whole. As the first skater of Mexican-American heritage to get a full signature line with the Swoosh, P-Rod helped redefine what it meant to be a pro skater on a global stage.

His inaugural model blended performance tech with streetwear edge, offering a Zoom Air-cushioned skate shoe that could actually handle serious heat at the park.
