American skater Ishod Wair drew huge applause in 2013 when the precocious New Jersey kid gripped the coveted Thrash Magazine SOTY in 2013 – just two years into his pro skating career! Wair became the first African American to nab the award. Nearly a decade later, Ishod finally linked up with the Swoosh to launch his debut signature model, the Nike SB Ishod.

Taking inspiration from classic hoops sneakers of the 1990s, the model was built from the ground up with a vulcanised cupsole construction and breathable rubber mesh mids. Now, Wair is set to grab more airtime with his Sophomore sneaker, the Nike SB Ishod 2, dropping in two colourways next week.

Boasting Air cushioning (a rare sight among Nike’s skate arsenal), the Ishod 2 ostensibly pays homage to cult classics like the Nike Air Force 180. Wair’s surname appears embroidered on the lace collars, fortuitously linked with Nike’s patented technology, while his first name appears on the lateral side of the padded tongue. On the insoles, the graphic design again extends the old school Air Max iconography of the 1990s.

The Nike SB Ishod 2 is set to debut in two colourways on January 19.
