Meet the Mets, meet the Mets, step right up and meet the Mets! While that’s easier said than done, the next best thing is to wear these Nike SB Dunk Highs that appear to be modelled after the popular New York baseball team. While they’re not scheduled for release just yet, some early leaks have emerged to whet appetites in the Big Apple.

Coming via @solebyjc, these Highs feature a very wearable grey colourway with requisite orange and blue accents per New York Mets colours. There are some interesting details on show, such as the mesh inserts on the toe box, mid panel and ankle collar replacing the usual leather. The blue Swoosh is also trimmed with stitched orange backing, reminiscent of the Mets’ home jersey.

These overt references are also met with some obscurer nods to New York that requires some local knowledge and/or love for the team. Behind the tongue tabs are references to the Number 7 subway line that leads to the Mets’ Citi Park home field, and the Home Run Apple that’s found there. Interestingly, there’s also a playful pink patch on one shoe’s outsole to resemble a stepped-on piece of gum – let’s just hope it actually doesn’t happen.
