Nike SB Dunk High ‘Maui Wowie’ Joins the 4/20 Celebrations
There’s been no shortage of heat emanating from the Nike SB Dunk to begin 2021, with Nike’s all-conquering skate label already revealing collaborations alongside Wasted Youth, Paul Rodriguez and – potentially – Dutch artist Parra.
It doesn’t look like the hype behind the legendary silhouette is dimming anytime soon, the latest Nike SB Dunk High ‘Hawaii’ also tapping another phenomenon transfixing the sneaker industry in 2021: tear-away uppers.
Continuing their proud history of 4/20 releases (the unofficial national holiday celebrating marijuana and stoner culture) the Nike SB Dunk High ‘Maui Wowie’ joins other modern classics like the ‘Dog Walker’ and ‘Reverse Skunk’.
Paying homage to the state of Hawaii, the latest Nike SB is composed in ‘Sail’, blue, and ‘Green Aqua’. Fresh out of the box, the Dunk High features a floral pattern reminiscent of classic Hawaiian shirts. Once the uppers are torn, however, a deep grassy green and burning orange floral underlays emphasise the 4/20 characteristics of the colourway. Of course, hemp tongues further the theme.
Unfortunately, we’re not yet certain whether Nike have implemented stash pockets.
Expect the Nike SB Dunk High ‘Maui Wowie’ to join the 4/20 lineup this month.
