Now that Travis Scott has been spotted wearing the Nike ACG Air Mowabb, the celebrity effect has magnetised the once sleeper shoe and attracted a horde of hypebeasts as new fans. While La Flame was rocking the ‘Gravity Purple’, it’s likely attention will be given to all upcoming Mowabb releases, such as the ‘Twine’, which is due to release in September.

Originally pegged as an outdoor cross-trainer 30 years ago, the Air Mowabb was an early ACG success, thanks to its integration of Tinker Hatfield’s innovative ideas. One of these concepts is its stretchy Huarache ankle bootie, a feature called out with this latest Mowabb retro via the new tongue and ankle pull tabs. While it’s a revision that’s upset some of the purists, it at least does call out tech that newcomers to the model may not have immediately realised. Pull tabs and forefoot mini Swooshes aside, the intriguing yet idiosyncratic combo of ‘Twine’ leather uppers and teal neoprene is definitely the (other) OG Mowabb colourway.

The Nike ACG Air Mowabb ‘Twine’ retro is scheduled to release via SNKRS and selected retailers on September 3. Given the aforementioned celebrity endorsement, picking up a pair isn’t going to be a walk in park – but then again, neither is the Mowabb’s intended use.
