The Nike Air Huarache reunion tour of 2021 continues with the revival of OG colourways beyond the ‘Scream Green’. Up next is the ‘Magenta’, which was originally a women’s release back in 1992, and one of the first instances of the circular Huarache logo in use.

It actually hasn’t been that long since the ‘Magenta’ re-released. Nike launched a salvo of revised Air Huaraches in 2018, focusing on OG colourways that hadn’t yet retroed since their 1991-92 launch – the ‘Magenta’ being among them. This last batch of Huarache retros was a marked improvement upon mid-2010s releases but, as it’s been detailed in depth here, the 2021 revival is even better.

In short, the upper pattern has been more or less completely redesigned to be closer to the OGs than ever before. Which results in a sharper and sleeker profile on foot as compared to the angular (some would say blocky) look of previous releases. Pragmatic modifications including a raised ankle strap to float further away from the Achilles tendon should also help improve an already immensely comfortable design.

After previous sightings of official e-comm shots confirming the colourway is still extremely neon, Nike have scheduled to release the Air Huarache ‘Magenta’ on July 8.
