Nike Free Huarache Carnivore (Emerald Green)
When Nike dropped their Free Huarache Carnivore in 'Catalina Black' last week it was a relief that they somehow made the shoe work. The three-way junction of the Free, Air Carnivore and Huarache appeared to be The Expendables in sneaker form, but Nike pulled it off with a palatable colourway. Now, it looks like Nike have thrown caution well into the wind and decided to issue the Free Huarache Carnivore in a colourway that would have been safely kept as a period peace – a reference to the things we've done wrong in this world.
Dressing the shoe in its OG 'Emerald Green' colourway, the shoe makes no attempt to hide its straps, instead proudly distinguishing them 'Emerald Green' with black. The zebra print, too, makes a comeback, hovering above the Free 5.0 midsole in defiance. For all its adoptions of design's wrong theory, the shoe's strength is in it being hella interesting. You're not going to see many like it around, and if any shoe could stir up a dead-meme response from any self-respecting contemporary interneter, then it's this one. And we guess there's something to respect in that.
