Nike Get Set to Release the Drop Type LXRelease: 1 July 2019
Off-White’s trend of dissecting and remaking has really shaped the way sneakers are consumed. What used to be a focus on smooth lines presented in a clean, minimalistic and ‘completed’ form can now be replaced with story-telling ‘bolt-ons’. Features that were conventionally hidden such as tags, seams and stitches, the reverse side of materials, and more, are now proudly displayed as a way to add to a shoe’s backstory.
The latest story from Nike is the Drop Type LX which embodies sneaker trends from today. The upper makes use of exposed foam, the tongue features a blue cover that’s been applied with exposed stitching, and an extended rubber midsole has been applied on the outside. Interestingly enough, writing on the insole suggests that this design is based on an Air Mowabb prototype, but the lifestyle silhouette says otherwise... maybe there’s more to this story?
