Nike Flies a Different Flag with the Air Max 1

The  are celebrating the Fourth of July with a special edition , featuring an early version of the American flag. Displayed in a very patriotic red, white and blue, at first glance this AM1 appears to use the OG colourway and materials as its template. Then ‘Midnight Navy’ is splashed onto the Swoosh and outsole for a point of difference.

Furthermore, the heel panel features the ‘Betsy Ross’ flag, a precursor to the contemporary American flag, featuring 13 stars arranged in a circle to signify the original 13 colonies that formed the United States of America.

Old heads will remember the original Independence Day AM1 from 2003. This is a contemporary update that is effectively an inverted colourway.

This AM1 releases on July 1.
