Sneaker nickname colourways sometimes don’t give away the full story. This is the case with the Nike Dunk Low ‘Light Iron Ore’, which sounds like a pretty straightforward execution on paper. However, there’s a lot more going on.

General release Dunks of late have played it pretty safe with two-toned leather colourways, this pair is relatively more daring in its suede and leather mix. The former material is where the namesake ‘Light Iron Ore’ appears, but it only really covers the main toe, eye stay and heel overlays, plus the laces and lining. The remaining panels each feature a different colour: red Swooshes; green heel tabs; blue outsoles; and even a yellow mini Swoosh on the toe, a detail not often used on the Dunk. An additional set of yellow laces are included for extra measure too.

This colourway seems to mark a gradual shift for the model away from its paint-by-numbers approach and will reward sneakerheads looking for something slightly different in a sea of dime-a-dozen Dunks. As retailer SVD say, this is ‘the Nike Dunk Low with the touch of color you need’.

Raffles are open now for the Nike Dunk Low ‘Light Iron Ore’, which is due to drop on May 23.
