Nike Make a Statement with the 'Dunks Not Dead' Dunk Low

Nike Dunk Low 'Dunks Not Dead'

The is dead. Many a think piece has been written asserting this sentiment; however, the reality is that while the Dunk is no longer at the centre of the hype wheel, it is still alive and well. The Swoosh continue to release GR colourways in droves, with plenty of collaborations forthcoming this year as well. The newest is now on the way and it's paying homage to the formidable nature of the Dunk via it's name: ‘Dunks Not Dead’.

Make no mistake, this is certainly not providing commentary on sneaker internet discourse, rather it nods to the Dunk’s rebellious spirit and plays on the 'punks not dead' rhetoric. Throughout its history, the Dunk consistently broke the mould, with the ‘Be True To Your School’ Dunks coming at a time when boldly coloured basketball shoes weren't prevalent. Later in the 2000s, the SB Dunks explored pop culture references and were front and centre of industry-defining collaborations. The upcoming ‘Dunks Not Dead’ embraces all of this with an edgy deep olive and black colourway set off by pink hits. The material is a mix of leather, nylon and rough-cut canvas, and the Dunk also features removable Velcro swooshes and tongue patches as well as pin badges. One of which the shoe draws its name from, as it reads ‘Dunks Not Dead’.

This punk inspired Dunk does not have a firm release date yet, but it is expected sometime in early 2025. As always, keep it right here for more.
