Update September 19, 2022: Despite being announced to drop in September earlier in the month, delays have hit the Nike Dunk Low ‘Argon’. A new date has been locked in for America’s allocation: October 8.

Update September 12, 2022: Following the initial July drop, the Nike Dunk Low ‘Argon’ will now touch down on US SNKRS. Look for these IYKYK Dunks to land on September 23.

Nike have made the Dunk Low into one of their most ubiquitous lifestyle silhouettes over the past two years, granting it a level of omnipresence that was previously reserved for pairs like the Air Force 1 and Air Jordan 1. Apart from releasing dozens of new colourways – and dropping the Dunk Low ‘Panda’ what seems like dozens of times as well – the Swoosh have looked back to the Dunk’s reign as the ruler of regional releases back in the 2000s, reviving classic styles that were once only accessible to Nike-loving sneaker nuts with a deep Rolodex of connections and an even deeper travel budget. One of those styles is the Dunk Low ‘Argon,’ a two-tone blue sneaker that was first released in 2001 and is now coming back for the first time ever.

Combining icy and sporty blue shades with crisp white Swooshes and detailing, the ‘Argon’ appears relatively simple by modern-day standards. However, when it was first released, it was part of Nike’s Japan-only CO.JP line, giving it a level of prominence, desirability and scarcity not afforded to general releases. It was so influential, in fact, that it inspired one of the three colourways in Union’s recent Dunk Low ‘Passport Pack’ collection and also had its signature tones flipped on the Dunk Low ‘Un-Argon’.

Nothing beats a classic, though, and the Nike Dunk Low ‘Argon’ is sure to receive a warm welcome when it returns on July 15. It’s worth noting that only a single shop has the ‘Argon’ listed for sale at the time of writing, so the ‘Argon’ is either it’s a sell ‘em as you get ‘em style a la Nike SB’s Orange Label drops – or a wider global release will follow later in the year!
