Nike Dress Up the Cortez for Cinco de Mayo

are celebrating Cinco de Mayo in style with a new dressed in the colours of the Mexican flag. White leather and off-white suede dominate the upper, while 'Pine Green' wraps around from the Swooshes to the heel. A wedge of 'Habanero Red' spices up the midsoles.

While this release isn't officially Cinco de Mayo-inspired, the timing seems too perfect to brush off as mere coincidence. As such, we have to question Nike's use of the Cortez to celebrate the Mexican holiday, given that it's named after the Spanish Conquistador responsible for the fall of the Aztec Empire.
