Release Date: Nike Doernbecher Freestyle 2022 CollectionRelease: 30 April 2022
Nike and Jordan Brand's yearly charitable collection with the Doernbecher Children's Hospital – an initiative that's been going on since 2004 and has raised upwards of $30 million – was revealed via live stream back in February and then made available via a charitable eBay auction. Since then, sneakerheads and supporters of the hospital alike have been awaiting word on a full release for the seven-shoe collection, and now that wait is over as all seven pairs have arrived on Nike SNKRS.
The styles in the collection are each designed by a hospital patient and are loaded with special details that range from motivational sayings to their favourite things and their personal inspirations. 11-year-old Michael 'Spitfire' Wilson chose to take on the Air Jordan 5 Low, 14-year-old Sam David Phelps picked the LeBron 19, 17-year-old Zoe Taaffe opted for the Dunk Low, 13-year-old Ayman Wamala looked towards the Blazer Mid, 16-year-old Cidni O'Brien revamped the Air Force 1 Fontanka, Catalina Vazquez tackled the SB Janoski and 15-year-old Maylee Phelps tapped the Zoom Vapor Cage 4. If you want to learn more about each designer and the inspirations behind their shoe, there's a detailed breakdown on the OHSU Foundation's website, which you can check out here.
Expect all seven styles from the Nike/Jordan Brand Doernbecher Freestyle collection to hit Nike SNKRS on April 30. Prices range from $85 to $200, and 100 per cent of the proceeds will be donated to the hospital.
