In the wake of Nike’s sudden lawsuit against BAPE, many have turned their attention to another facet of the Swoosh’s past, specifically to a case focusing on another famous model: the Nike Cortez. To cut a long story short, there’s debate whether the Onitsuka Tiger Corsair or the Nike Cortez came first (although technically speaking, it was the Corsair). History lesson aside, the court ended up ruling that Nike could sell the Cortez and Onitsuka the Corsair. Still, it’s certainly something that lives rent-free in the minds of many in the sneakersphere.

Interestingly now, Nike have announced that they have a couple of fresh Cortez iterations landing online, revealed at a time when there’s a lot of attention on the retro model. The upcoming colourways, set to land later this month, take inspiration from the retro decade its silhouette hails from, with the green-Swooshed ‘Aloe Verde’ rendition coming through with vintage vibes, constructed with suede accents, gum outsoles and retro branding. The other pair is predominantly white and features black Swooshes, cream outsoles and a touch of blue.

Both iterations of the Nike Cortez are landing this week! Hit the links below to get copping.
